We are offering a 1-day workshop called SemanticExcel.com: A Workshop on How to Perform Statistical Analyses of Text Data. Semantic Excel is developed by our research group and is a free online software application with a simple, yet powerful interface that enables you to perform statistical analyses on text data. The software enables researchers to statistically analyse the relationship between both texts and numbers. The workshop should be of interests to people using words as outcome measures in behavioral science.
The workshop will make an introduction to; theories of semantic representations, how to pose and collect semantic questions/data in surveys, measuring semantic similarity, semantic test, semantic predictions, and visualising semantic data. For a list of publication that have used the semanticexcel software see here. A book related to the software will come out on Springers 2019, entitled Statistical Semantics: Methods and Applications. Prerequisite is basic knowledge in statistics. Attendance per Skype is possible, but we will prioritise people attending physically.
Semanticexcel has been developed since around 2006 and has been supported by grants from The Swedish Research Council, Vinnova, and The Kamprad foundation. The software has also been used in projects that have won the Lund University Innovations Prize 2018, and Venture Cup: Startup of the year 2018.
Date: Date will be announced later
Location: P204, Department of Psychology, Lund University (Or by Skype).
